ProfessorI am researching the role of landscape in enhancing the interaction between human activities and the natural environment. Specifically, I am exploring how landscape can shape this relationship in urban spaces, preserve green spaces in development projects, and contribute to land-use strategies that mitigate the impact of natural disasters. Ultimately, I aim to improve the connection between human activities and the natural environment through innovative landscape initiative approach aspects.
Recent Topics of Interest:
I am interested in green space policy and land use management, river basin flood control, resident consensus buildings, and landscape governance. Specifically, I am examining new disaster prevention and post-disaster planning approach in response to the high incidence of disasters associated with climate change in recent years. Additionally, I am also exploring the issue of gender in spatial planning.
Motto in Research or in Life: There is nothing worthless in our lives.
Hobby / Holiday: Jazz piano (as I haven’t had much time to practice, it’s a “half wish.” I will work hard from now on!)

ProfessorI am researching microorganisms that "breathe" unusual substances such as iodine, arsenic, and antimony. I am interested in unraveling the key enzymes of these microorganisms and exploring their bio-remediation functions. Additionally, I am intrigued by understanding the dominance mechanisms of microorganisms in fermented foods and exploring the associated control mechanisms.
Recent Topics of Interest:
I am interested in applied research focused on anaerobic fermentative bacteria, exploring their capacities for producing organic acids and facilitating metal reduction, to utilize their functions for practical applications.
Motto in Research or in Life:
Go with the flow, trust my instincts, and head towards what brings joy without overplanning.

LecturerBased on my own clinical experience, I am conducting research that combines nursing with science and engineering, aiming to realize a society where the elderly can maintain their dignity until the end and experience the happiest moments of their lives.
I am challenging conventional wisdom and rethinking the status quo, developing innovative care devices with unprecedented concepts.
Recent Topics of Interests:
Dementia prevention, Early detection, Nursing care
Motto in Research or in Life:
Conducting research that is truly applicable in clinical settings.
Creating a society where people can feel that “the present is the happiest moment” until the end of their lives.
Hobby / Holiday:
Transporting and accompanying my children to their extracurricular activities, Violin, Swimming, and Calligraphy.
Faculty of Education, Chiba University
Associate ProfessorMy main area of research is family and welfare sociology, with a particular focus on foster parents and children. Through my studies, I have explored topics such as child poverty and the relationship between juvenile justice and childcare. My ultimate goal is to contribute to the creation of a society where children’s best interests are protected, regardless of their background and environment, and where caring for others, particularly, child-caring, is valued and respected.
Recent Topics of Interests: Family changes among non-standard families, Maternal research
Hobby / Holiday: Going to the park with my children

Associate ProfessorIn my area of expertise, I focus on plastics (polymers). I engage in producing plastics, evaluating their properties, and studying their decomposition. In my current research, I am working towards the realization of a recycling system that transforms post-consumer plastics into plant fertilizers. By effectively utilizing waste plastics as fertilizers, we can achieve efficient resource recycling. Moreover, fertilizers synthesized from waste plastics have the potential to address the food crisis associated with the world's population growth. Inspired by the concept of "making bread from plastic" depicted in the TV anime series Future Boy Conan (directed by Hayao Miyazaki, 1978), I aim to develop a novel technology that can bring this dream to reality.
Recent Topics of Interest: Plastic issues, agriculture
Motto in Research or in Life: Where there is a will, there is a way.
Hobby / Holiday: Reading books, including manga (My recent favorite is the Kosaku Shima series)

LecturerAdverse drug effects are often thought of as rare events, but they always have an underlying mechanism. I aim to understand these mechanisms at the molecular level to help improve medical safty. I am also conducting research on cancer metabolism to contribute to the development of new therapeutic drugs.
Recent Topics of Interests:
Why do responses and reactivity to drugs vary from person to person?
